Do you need to lose weight? That should be your first question. You might want to go to a doctor to determine if you need to lose weight. In today's society there is a lot of emphasis on body image. We have teenage girls that weigh only 120 pounds obsessing about weight loss. This is absurd. In fact I am not sure most 150 pound girls need to lose any weight. That is why I say to take this up with your doctor first.
Keep in mind that those who lift weights also may not need to lose excess weight since muscles weigh more than fat. In this case the weight is not excess. If you have recently put on muscle weight then you may not need to do anything to your body. However, if you have put on fat then you may want to go on a diet to lose those extra pounds.
Losing weight is easy. You must burn more calories then you take in, if you do this you will lose weight. Do not listen to all of the fad diet claims since they are complicating weight loss more than it needs to be. Let's say you have gained a few pounds and you want to cut back on your weight. If your current weight is maintained eating 2000 calories, you might want to cut back 500 calories to 1500 calories total.
You do not want to make any drastic changes which will shock your body and cause it to cut back on your metabolic rate. You want to lose about 1-3 pounds per week maximum. In this manner you will lose weight without hunger and feeling deprived due to avoiding the starvation response.
